Translation Specialization focuses on translation theory and practice. All courses are taught by experienced translators and translation scholars. The program offers workshops in business, media, literary and specialized translation, from Polish to English and vice versa. Students practice text analysis and writing in different styles. Additionally, they learn how to use Computer Assisted Translation programs (CAT tools).Translation Specialization aims to:
Instill professional approach to translated texts, such as the use of translation strategies and techniques, appropriate to the given context. Teach students about the requirements of general and specialized translation and localization.
Demonstrate good working practices for professional translators, including: time management, research techniques, evaluation of information sources, compilation of translator’s library and tool set, and business basics for freelance translators.
