Biotechnology refers to issues related to the use or manipulation of biological systems, living organisms or derivatives thereof to make or modify products or processes for certain beneficial tasks. It is a rapidly growing area of science that uses biological processes for applications in medicine, diagnostics, agriculture, environmental protection, food technology.
The secondary course Biotechnology in Animal Production and Environmental Protection takes 3 semesters. The candidate must have an engineering degree in biotechnology or a related field, completed coursework in biology, physics, chemistry and math.
The study program offers a wide range of subjects in the field of bioinformatics, cellular engineering in animal reproduction, enzyme engineering, ethic, legal and economic aspects of biotechnology, procedures of intellectual property and industrial protection in biotechnology, quality management systems in biotechnology.
The program provides students with an advanced scientific education and prepares them scientifically for diverse careers in the biotechnology. Graduates develop careers in a wide range of fields such as the chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, food and environmental industries. They are prepared e.g. for work in scientific laboratories applying biotechnology to issues related with industry and agriculture, control and diagnostic units, companies that are investing in biotechnology.
After the study the graduates will have possibility to find the job in the biotechnological companies as well as the research laboratories in the country and abroad.

Student recruitment for given academic year begins in May and lasts until mid-July. Candidates sign up electronically, and then provide set of required documents.
