The University of Gdańsk American Studies program is unique in Poland. Based on a long and successful tradition of language and literature studies at the University, it receives consistently high ratings from candidates and students.American Studies at the University of Gdańsk offer a rich program consisting of advanced practical langauge teaching, and courses in descriptive grammar, sociolinguistics, British and Irish literature, American philosophy and literature, the visual arts in the USA, US theater and film, and the politics and social development of the USA. Contemporary American culture, in its ethnic complexity, is an important component of several courses.
Students can follow courses in American Studies on a full-time basis for six semesters at BA level (level I). They may also, if they fulfill entrance requirements, follow courses on a full-time basis for four semesters in an MA studies program.
Courses are conducted by specialists in the fields of American literature and culture, by theater studies specialists, art historians, media scholars, creative writers, and linguists. Successful graduates of American Studies obtain a substantial knowledge of a wide range of aspects of US life and culture. This is an excellent preparation for work in the media, in publishing, in public relations, and in the educational sector. Our graduates also find work in American firms, in tourism and transport, in chambers of commerce, in translation enterprises, in independent consultancies and translation businesses, in the diplomatic service, and in political institutions.

For EU citizens studies are free of charge.For Non-EU citizens fees are 4000 EUR per academic year.

University of Gdańskeducation requirements
Candidates for admission to the level II (MA) program in American Studies must be graduates of level I (BA) studies (either full-time or part-time), and must possess the degree of licenjat (or the equivalent). There is an entrance examination for admission to MA studies. Candidates must demonstrate a knowledge of English at Level C1 of the Common European Framework for Reference in Languages.other requirements
