degree
Masterduration
2 years (4 semesters)language
Englishdescription
Oriental Studies: Mongolian and Tibetan Studies, are unique and although the main emphasis is placed on studying culture and religion, as all humanities, they are very interdisciplinary. This unique didactic program is being undertaken only at the Oriental Faculty of the University of Warsaw. Lecturers are specialists – often the only ones in Poland – in this geographic and cultural area. Their advanced research has resulted in numerous publications in Polish and international periodicals. Language classes are conducted by native speakers. Additionally, in order to upgrade their qualification and language skills, students have the possibility to travel to Mongolia for a language or research training. The second degree studies: Oriental Studies – Mongolian and Tibetan Studies enable students to continue learning through deepened analysis of cultural phenomena as well as learning Mongolian and Tibetan languages. High specialization of people continuing these studies comes up ahead of current social and even economic needs, which can be certified by presumed study results. The program offers acquiring specialized knowledge of Mongolian and Tibetan studies and their methodology as well as diversified practical knowledge of Asian and African cultures in the cognitive perspective which translates into skills and cognitive-hermeneutic competence, very much needed in today’s globalized world. Students will know and understand the value of cultural diversity, and perceive the value of their own culture by learning about others. Teaching in English opens the door to foreign universities as part of students’ exchange. Internationalizing Mongolian-Tibetan studies will enable students to become accustomed to and function in a multicultural research and academic environment.tuition
