Patent for life
Anastasiia Kononenko is an excellent student with high average grade. She patented a device for preventing the suffocation of children and pets trapped in locked cars in extreme temperatures. But her engagement does not end with scientific work.
She studies Energetics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Łódź University of Technology, with an average grade 4,27, which she has been maintaining for several semesters. She holds the patent for an invention Life Defender, for ensuring safety of children and pets in cars. This device prevents the cases of suffocation of children and pets trapped in locked cars in extreme temperatures.
Anastasiia can boast of her success in many scientific competitions, such as a competition for improving a demonstrative experiment in physics (winner), the international “Genius Olimpiad” (winner of the national stage), the international “I – FEST2” competition (silver medal) or the “Sikorski Challenge” (winner).
She receiver the Intel-Perspektywy scholarship for talented women in new technologies twice. She participated twice in the “NASA SpaceApps” hackathon and in the “CASSINI” hackathon. She also received the Mayor of Zaporizhzhia Award. She was an active participant in the “Women in Tech Camp 2023.”

Her impressive achievements include numerous prizes for science and research, as well as an awarded patent, which demonstrates her innovativeness and involvement in the development of technology. She also received many awards and prizes from Ukrainian authorities, which proves her hard work and determination,” says Dr. Eng. Dorota Piotrowska, Prof. ŁUT, who recommended her as a candidate. “Her involvement is not limited to science. She has been very active in promotion and events organisation at the Łódź University of Technology, e.g., as an ECIU ambassador, which proves her dedication and willingness to support the academic community. Anastasiia is a person who combines excellent academic results, innovativeness, and social engagement. I am certain that her future will be as impressive as her to-date achievements.
When asked about what is she grateful for to Poland and her university, Anastasiia Kononenko answers: “I deeply love Poland, which became my home and the source of support in difficult times. This country opened its arms when I needed it most and I am incredibly grateful for that. The Łódź University of Technology also played a big role in my journey. It gave me a wealth of knowledge, valuable skills and endless possibilities of self-improvement. Each day brings new challenges to overcome, inspiring my development, both academic and personal.”
