Kateryna, for SURE!
Kateryna Fadieieva from Donetsk was the leader of the Jagiellonian University team who won in the US State Department “Students for a United and Resilient Europe” (SURE) programme that fights the anti-Ukrainian narration. But the list of Kateryna’s successes is much, much longer.
The average grade of 5.0 (recently “only” 4.97!) in just a cherry on top in case of Kateryna Fadieieva. The 3rd year student of International Relations and Area Studies at the JU came to Poland in 2022 and since then has been developing impressive activity in many fields. To say that she is ambitious and wonderfully organised is an understatement!
“Ms. Kateryna Fadieieva shows outstanding engagement in student and charity activities, especially those related to Ukrainian refugees, persons with disabilities, and seniors,” says Dominika Dziwisz, head of the International Relations and Area Studies and Global and Development Studies, assistant professor at the Political Sciences and International Relations Institute at the JU, who enthusiastically recommended the candidate. “As the leader of the Young European Ambassadors programme she organised events, ensured psychological support, participated in international seminars and conducted successful campaigns, such as the reward-winning EMPA project, combating disinformation and promoting empathy.
Kateryna Fadieieva participates in international seminars and conferences on cultural diplomacy, cybersecurity, and sustained development. She also has some published work, including a chapter in the “Shades of Diplomacy” monograph, titled “Silent signifier: Art. Exhibition as a Tool of Cultural Diplomacy.”
The main goal of the SURE programme (Students for a United and Resilient Europe), in which Kateryna was the JU team leader, is combating disinformation about Ukraine and building good relations between the Ukrainian refugees and the countries hosting them: Moldova, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia. At the European Student Assembly in Strasbourg, she participated in the discussion panel as the Una Europa delegate from the JU.
“I am happy that I chose this country, this city, and this university,” Kateryna says. “I love Poland, I love Kraków, and I love the Jagiellonian University for its inspiring professors, who motivate me to develop, both academically and personally. The city pulsing with life and the open academic environment make me feel like a part of it and this gives me energy every day. The professors inspire me, the students help me develop, and the administrative workers support me every step of the way. I have this wonderful feeling of belonging to this community and I feel it support in everything I do.”
