The aim of the specialization is to prepare future Americanists and Canadianists for professional work by delivering them knowledge of diplomatic processes, international law, intercultural and internatioanal relations combined with native-like fluency in English.The programme also supports developing practical diplomatic skills and intercultural expertise which may be facilitated at all levels of intercultural relations. Graduates will be prepared to work as specialists in public administration units and as members of diplomatic corps. They skills they posess will make them valuable employees of territorial administration, local governments, or liaison managers in international companies. Such graduate will be an asset to all organizations seeking experts who have attained a near-native command of English and developed diplomatic skills neccessary in the context of business relations, political negotiations and intercultural mediation.

Faculty of Philologyeducation requirements
The candidates, which graduated their Bachelor’s degree studies in English Philology, or Philology, specialization: English, may apply for studies. So may the candidates, which graduated Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and Master’s (long-term) studies and own one of the following certificates confirming advanced knowledge in English: British Council IELTS (with the score of at least 7.0), TOEFL iBT (with score of at least 100), TOEFL BPT (with score of at least 600), Cambridge CAE (level B at least), Cambridge CPE (level C at least), PTE Academic (with score of at least 70), or International Baccalaureate (English chosen as language A or B, with the mark of 5 the lowest).other requirements
Candidates applying for the programme should be familiar with the content of the Bachelor’s studies in English Philology, or Bachelor’s studies in Philology, specialization: English.The candidates which graduated in other programme are bound to complete the missing requirements. The curriculum differences, along with the schedule and the means of their completion will be defined by the Dean of the Faculty of Philology individually for each of such candidates.
The qualification is based on the degree contest on the Bachelor’s diploma.
Students of the University of Silesia which graduated their Bachelor’s degree studies in the programme of English Philology or Philology with specialization of English have the priority in the qualification. The candidates outside of the University of Silesia will be accepted for studies until the limit of students is reached. In case a number of the candidates received the same mark on the Bachelor’s degree exam and the limit of the places is reached, the average of the university grades becomes an additional criterion in qualification.
