Course Description

Course Profile

The second degree programme in nursing is offered as continuation of the first degree studies, improving the quality of practical skills, comprising also the essentials of nursing care administration and management.

A student of second-cycle studies in nursing expands general knowledge in the field of medical sciences, health sciences and detailed knowledge in the field of nursing, as well as the following skills:

monitoring the health of children and adults and implementing educational, promotional and preventive activities,

providing care to a mechanically ventilated patient in long-term care conditions,

solving professional problems, especially related to making decisions in difficult situations resulting from the specificity of professional tasks and the conditions of their implementation,

selecting recommendations and interpreting diagnostic tests within the scope of their qualifications,

coordinating patient health care in the health care system,

prescribing medicines, foodstuffs for particular nutritional purposes and medical devices, including issuing prescriptions or orders for them,

creating standards of nursing care and implementing them into nursing practice,

communicating with the patient, taking into account cultural and religious condition

using the results of scientific research and global nursing achievements for the development of nursing practise

The programmed comply with the EU educational standards. Graduates are entitled to obtain the license to practice the profession of a nurse throughout the territory of the Republic of Poland and the EU member states.

Our graduates are prepared to provide direct care of healthy children and adults in outpatient clinics, educational organizations, in general and industrial health care establishments and to take care of the patients in primary health care units as well on environmental, specialist and domestic basis, in hospital wards, sanatoria, specialist clinics, emergency departments, social care homes, nursing homes and medical centres.

Education Requirements

The qualification procedure for the second-cycle degree program in nursing is based on:

- the grade point average obtained during the whole period of the first cycle degree program in nursing (the grade point average calculated as an arithmetic average of the results of all examinations, credits ending a subject, obtained throughout the study period),

- certificate documenting English language fluency level.
