Course Description
Course Profile
The major Leadership in International Relations is offered under the BA in International Studies in Political Science and Diplomacy degree programme.
The main goal of the studies is to educate future staff for, among others, diplomatic posts and international institutions. The programme is based on political science supplemented with the issues related to law, economics, sociology, history and psychology. Excellent knowledge of foreign languages is a priority of education. In addition to research and teaching staff of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Silesia, classes will be conducted by experts working for international institutions, government administration and diplomatic posts on a daily basis.
Education Requirements
Essential documents required from candidates for studies:
1. Document that entitles the candidate to start studying at the undergraduate level in the country where the document was issued. Document issued abroad must be legalized or possess an apostille stamp.
2. Confirmation that the document issued abroad entitles the candidate to apply for undergraduate programmes in the country where it was issued – if it was issued by a country that is not a member of the EU, EFTA or OECD and with which Poland does not have relevant agreements on the equivalence of education certificates.
3. In case of documents issued in languages other than Polish and English – certified translation into Polish made by a court translator from the official list of the Polish Ministry of Justice.
Other Requirements
Basic qualification criteria for the programme:
The qualification includes the Matura certificate competition or its equivalent issued abroad (an educational document entitling to start studies in the country of issue). The results of the subjects indicated below will be taken into account:
• Polish* (weight = 30%)
• Modern foreign language (weight = 30%)
• One subject to choose from the following: History, Civics/Social Studies, Philosophy, History of Art, History of Music, Latin Language and Ancient Culture, Mathematics, Polish, modern foreign language (weight = 40%).
* or the official language of the country in which the document entitling candidate to apply for studies was issued.
The result of the basic level exam shall be multiplied by the conversion factor of 0.5, at the extended level by the conversion factor of 1 and then by the subject weight.
