The University of Zielona Góra (UZ), located in the scenic city of Zielona Góra—meaning "Green Mountain" and renowned for its wine-making traditions—is a modern academic institution combining quality education with cutting-edge research. Established in 2001, UZ is the largest university in western Poland and ranks 5th among Poland’s technical universities, offering a unique, student-centered learning experience supported by advanced infrastructure and an expert faculty.
With approximately 10,000 students, UZ comprises 7 faculties and 29 institutes, covering disciplines from engineering and sciences to humanities and arts. Its programs are tailored to prepare students for global job markets, emphasizing practical skills and innovation. UZ boasts state-of-the-art facilities, such as the neuroscience and movement laboratory, enhancing its research and educational capabilities.
UZ’s academic prestige is reflected in its strong scientific achievements. In the 2017–2021 evaluation, ten disciplines: Automation, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies, Economics and finance, Mechanical engineering, Linguistics, Literary studies, Political and administrative sciences, Health sciences, Educational sciences, Astronomy, Fine arts and art conservation earned category A ratings, and all other disciplines earned a strong B+ rate. The university is authorized to confer doctoral and postdoctoral degrees, underscoring its leadership in research. Numerous grants, patents, and publications in top journals further highlight its contributions to global knowledge.
A key priority for UZ is internationalization. As a member of global networks, it collaborates with worldwide institutions and offers programs in English. The Welcome Center supports international students with formalities, cultural activities, and integration, fostering an inclusive campus atmosphere.
UZ is also recognized for its research in renewable energy, environmental protection, and mechanical studies. Partnerships with local industries allow students and researchers to tackle real-world challenges, bridging theory and practice.
