Course Description
Course Profile
The contemporary environment of an enterprise undergoes dynamic changes and forces it to constantly adapt its activity to the market requirements and solve emerging challenges. Activities aimed at improving economic processes and responding to emerging problems as well as risk assessment are important elements of a company's success. Therefore, the programme content of courses offered within the English-language studies Logistics and Mobility provide knowledge and develop skills in creating concepts, assessing the competitive potential of a company, applying methods and tools to improve, rationalise, restructure and optimise business processes in a company, with particular emphasis on logistics processes. The use of tools supporting decision-making processes in a company is one of the objectives of the offered subjects. The study programme, focusing on the economic aspects of logistic support and mobility in its broadest sense, combines issues related to the modelling of logistics processes, supply chain management, sustainable development of urban mobility, managerial decision-making in logistics, the importance of forwarding and transport in logistics and the use of IT tools in logistics and mobility. The study programme is also complemented by courses that expand the knowledge of mobility in its broadest sense, the development of which is determined by trends in the market for transport, forwarding, and logistics services.
The advantages of the programme in terms of demonstrating the functions of logistics and the importance of mobility development in the functioning of the TLS market cannot be overestimated.
The choice of Logistics and Mobility studies enables the students to:
acquire qualifications necessary for the work of a logistics manager, both in enterprises providing logistics services and in other types of enterprises for which logistics is an important supporting process,
acquire knowledge of current trends and developments in mobility and the transport and logistics sector, as well as contemporary problems in the socio-economic environment for companies in the sector,
acquire knowledge of sustainable urban mobility, microbility, shared mobility, and other new forms of mobility, improve their language skills, with particular emphasis on the specialist vocabulary of economics and logistics,
acquire practical skills in operating specialist IT tools used in logistics, such as SAP and ARIS (with the possibility of obtaining a Software AG certificate) and in statistical data analysis, such as Statistica,
contact with representatives of business practice who are involved in the implementation of selected subjects,
gain insight into real logistics processes through study visits to companies,
gain additional competences through involvement in the activities of student organizations, such as the UG Logistics Students' Club,
study abroad within the ERASMUS+ and CEEPUS programs,
participate in the prestigious Top Young 100 development program for students of logistics and other specialisations related to supply chain,
attend classes which take place in modern classrooms and computer laboratories,
use of databases and worldwide publications, student zones, public computer stations, free Wi-Fi,
free use of Microsoft and IBM software such as Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Power Point, One Note), Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Project Professional, Access, SQL Server, SharePoint Server, Visual Studio, Visio, IBM SPSS.
