Course Description

Course Profile

This double degree programme is jointly run by the Institute

of European Studies at the Jagiellonian University and the

Institut d’Etudes Politiques at the University of Strasbourg.

These are two outstanding institutions that both have

a widely renowned reputation in the field of European

Studies. The first year takes place at the Jagiellonian

University in Krakow. Selected students follow a course of

studies particular to European Studies, and all classes are

run in English (core courses, specialisations and electives).

However, if the student so desires, he or she is able to take

classes in Polish (electives only). The second year of studies

takes place at the University of Strasbourg (IEP), where

teaching is proposed in French. The programme is an integral

part of the Master in “Politiques européennes” and offers

lectures and seminars that deal with European issues as well

as Franco-Polish relations. In order to fill these requirements,

lecturers are not only members of academic staff but also

experts and practitioners in the field of European issues and

Franco-Polish relations. The fourth semester is dedicated

to the writing of the MA thesis (in English or French) and

sitting the thesis defence. Additionally, the student may also

choose to do an internship at this time.

Recruitment covers two phases: 1) the application procedure

for Polish programmes at the Institute of European Studies

and 2) a subsequent interview (in English and French) by

the commission that ultimately decides on admission to the

programme.
