Course Description
Course Profile
What do we teach?
• We teach engineering and comprehensive approach to solving contemporary problems in chemistry and chemical engineering.
• We provide a straightforward discussion of either classic or innovative technological solutions used worldwide in chemical synthesis, processing, and separation.
• We share our experience also by drawing your attention to common problems of traditional chemical technologies, while showing the possibilities of improvement by using innovative technological solutions (Lean Manufacturing).
• We focus on verified technological solutions driven by the principles of sustainable production, i.e. cost efficient with minimum environmental impacts, minimum energy and material consumption.
Why is it worth it?
• You will become a professional focused on technical aspects of chemical engineering, oriented on international success in the chemical and processing industries. Lectures, exercises, laboratories, projects, and seminars conducted in English by professionals with extensive scientific achievements and industry experience.
• We teach solution- and innovation-oriented thinking useful for everyday problems solving in the chemical and processing industries, also with the use of modern tools and software.
• You will gain engineering skills in the field of chemistry and chemical engineering. Such interdisciplinarity along with the form of conducting studies, provided solely in English (including the BSc thesis and diploma), will increase your competencies sought by the labour market, both domestic and international.
Your qualifications and skills:
By studying Industrial and Engineering Chemistry, you will become an engineer equipped with both general and practical knowledge in the fields of chemical sciences, engineering, and related natural sciences. You will gain expertise particularly in:
• Chemical technology – including the design, optimization, and control of chemical processes across various industries;
• Fundamentals of chemical equipment design – with an emphasis on materials selection, process safety, and mechanical integrity;
• Unit operations and processes – such as heat and mass transfer, fluid dynamics, separation techniques, and reactor design;
• Chemical analysis techniques – including both classical and advanced instrumental methods (e.g., spectroscopy, chromatography, electrochemical analysis).
In addition, you will acquire modern engineering skills that are increasingly in demand in today's job market, such as:
• Process simulation and modeling using software tools like Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or MATLAB to predict and optimize system performance;
• Sustainable and green chemistry practices, focusing on environmentally-friendly and resource-efficient technologies;
• Industrial automation and control systems, including PLC programming, SCADA systems, and Industry 4.0 integration;
• Data analysis and interpretation, applying statistical and machine learning tools to support decision-making and quality control;
• Project management and interdisciplinary teamwork, preparing you to work effectively in dynamic, multicultural, and cross-functional environments.
Graduates of this program are well-prepared to pursue careers in the chemical, pharmaceutical, energy, materials, and environmental sectors, or to continue studies at the master's or doctoral level in engineering or applied sciences.
