Course Description
Course Profile
The major is offered under the MA in English Studies degree programme.
The aim of the major is to prepare future Americanists and Canadianists for professional work by delivering them knowledge of diplomatic processes, international law, intercultural and internatioanal relations combined with native-like fluency in English.
The programme also supports developing practical diplomatic skills and intercultural expertise which may be facilitated at all levels of intercultural relations. Graduates will be prepared to work as specialists in public administration units and as members of diplomatic corps. The skills they posess will make them valuable employees of territorial administration, local governments, or liaison managers in international companies. Such graduate will be an asset to all organisations seeking experts who have attained a near-native command of English and developed diplomatic skills neccessary in the context of business relations, political negotiations and intercultural mediation.
Education Requirements
Essential documents required from candidates for studies:
1. A Bachelor's or Master’s degree diploma, including the supplement with grades (document that entitles candidate to start studying at graduate level in the country where the document was issued). Document issued abroad must be legalized or possess an apostille stamp.
2. A confirmation that a diploma issued abroad entitles the owner to apply for graduate programmes in the country where it was issued – in justified cases.
3. In case of documents issued in languages other than Polish and English – certified translation into Polish made by a court translator from the official list of the Polish Ministry of Justice.
Other Requirements
Basic qualification criteria for the programme:
Students who have received a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree or equivalent in English Studies or Philology: English or Applied Linguistics or Philology where English was the first language may apply for admission.
Admission for studies shall be determined by the place on the ranking list created based on the sum obtained from the final grade on the diploma and grade point average.
