Course Description

Course Profile

Raw Materials Value Chain is a new two-year Master Science degree major. The curriculum is designed to equip students with expertise in sustainable extraction, processing and end-use of raw materials. The comprehensive approach of combining academic and expert knowledge will translate into awareness of, and concern for, the raw materials value chain sector in Europe. The process of knowledge acquisition will be carried out with close co-operation with a broad spectrum of stakeholders – including SMEs and large corporations.
In semester one, AGH University’s Department of Civil Engineering and Resource Management provides students with the necessary fundamental skills in topics areas such as geology and innovative mining.
In semester two, AGH University’s Faculty of Non-ferrous Metals expands on the knowledge gained during semester one and provides students with a more advanced understanding of minerals processing and metallurgy.
During Semester three at TUBAF, students have the opportunity to gain an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of materials producing, recycling and circularity.
Semester four at AGH University is a graduate semester, focused on preparing a master’s thesis in close collaboration with an industrial partner or research center, which will also host students for an internship. During each semester the above mentioned topics will be supported by courses on economic, social and environmental issues. This logical combination gives the awareness of sustainability and effectivity management to stakeholders in raw materials sector.
