Course Profile
The objectives of the International Management program at the second level of study at the Faculty of Management at the AGH University in Krakow are as follows:
– Providing advanced specialized knowledge in the field of international management and related sciences, developing critical and original thinking about their usefulness and effectiveness in international business,
– Preparing graduates to work as independent entrepreneurs, managers, specialists, and consultants in international markets by developing advanced skills in identifying, formulating, and solving problems in the conditions of complexity and uncertainty of the global economy (combined with the ability to select analytical methods and tools),
– Forming an active attitude towards multicultural, ethical, and social problems of business, as well as commitment and a sense of personal responsibility for decisions in the work environment and beyond,
– Preparing students for the challenges of research and postgraduate studies in Poland or abroad.
International Management alumni are distinguished by their creativity and flexibility and can adapt their acquired skills to a changing international labor market. The studies are related to business practice and international economic cooperation.
The graduate is proactive, has an innovative attitude, and can do business in international markets with the help of advanced information technologies. During their studies, students acquire multicultural interpersonal, self-presentation, and group-working skills necessary for management positions at various levels. These skills are especially important for functioning efficiently in culturally diverse settings.
Important elements of the didactic process are novel and creative teaching methods, which also leave a high degree of independence to the student, influencing the formation of the graduate’s social maturity and internal motivation to achieve the set goals. The graduate can recognize, diagnose, and solve managerial problems involving human, material, and financial resources and information in the international environment. He/she is prepared to work as a specialist and manager (middle and top management) in companies operating in the international arena, as well as for the management of his/her own business.
During the course, emphasis is placed on developing sensitivity to cultural differences, understanding their importance for the functioning of multicultural organizations, and developing group work skills. The use of appropriate teaching methods such as case studies, project work, and e-learning will support the development of critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and group work skills.
